Ellen and Lisa Trash the Dress!! And What Is This All About?

Lisa and Ellen recenty "trashed their dresses" with me, well...i doubt that we trashed them..a trip to the drycleaners is probably all that is needed.  Lisa and I chose downtown Grand Rapids for her session, and Ellen found an awesome martini bar for her shoot, and we also did some downtown Kalamazoo shots.

Just so you know...a Trash the Dress session....with me at least, does not mean that we are neccesarily always getting into situations where we are "trashing" anything.
I have photographed a bride 12 feet up in a tree, in Lake Michigan,
laying in a river,

walking through snow under a setting sun,

junk yard,

construction zone... The sky is the limit to the creative ideas and places we can come up with for these shoots.  This summer, I will actually be photographing a bride, who wishes for some of her images to be of her working on an old truck, getting greasy and dirty, as a tribute to her father, who taught her everything she knows about the auto mechanics!
In comparison, these sessions can entail simply, brides in cool places that are unusual and unique, dark and gothic,..out of the norm, such as Ellen and Lisa's images below depict.  So call it Trash the Dress..or call it a fun "post wedding" glamour session, either way, brides love it, I adore shooting these sessions, and the end result...images to cherish forever and maybe to look at later and say "I can't believe I did that, it was sooo much fun!" (oh and fyi....grooms are welcome to join in!)
Lisa, downtown GR
Ellen, on the bar!!
We are in a back alley behind McFaddens, doesn't get any dirtier than this!
Love this shot of Lisa and the motion of the Veil!!
Walking around downtown Kzoo, we found this awesome doorway, and Ellen adorned it well!

This picture of Ellen ("Ellens") was created by combining 3 photos, one right before she jumped, one as she jumped, and one as she landed...TRIPLE Ellen Threat! Watch out!

The light hits Lisa just beautifully in this photo!!

Backs of old buildings have some great areas to photograph!!

We convinced the manager of a very fancy resturaunt to let us in before they opened. There were all these gorgeous sheer curtains hanging between tables, and sitting areas...great spot for Ellen, behind one of these curtains!

Normally this fountain at Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids is filled with water, but it was too early in the season. What the heck, lets put Lisa in it anyway, lol...love this pic!

Love the Converse!

Runaway Ellen, but hey, those shoes are awesome!

Up in a window!

yup, love those brick walls!

A street musician plays his guitar for Lisa!
